We're in the peak of engagement season and tired of going to the same engagement party over and over. As much as we love celebrating a newly-engaged happy couple, the parties can start to feel a bit repetitive. No more embarrassing slideshows and corny games (please!). We've put together some ideas that you haven't seen a million times.
Mexican Fiesta. Kick off your engagement with brightly-colored table settings, margaritas, and papel picado banners. Set up a taco bar with all the traditional fixings and for mingle-friendly apps, have waiters pass around small bites like mini tacos and quesadillas.
Clambake. Set up a long dinner table on the beach or on the deck of a beach club or waterfront restaurant. For sides, stick with the basics (corn on the cob, bruschetta, and fresh watermelon). Decorate with a nod to New England by incorporating simple nautical motifs. Extra points for bonfires and s'mores!
Polaroid Guestbook. We've seen plenty of these unique guestbook ideas at weddings, but why not start the fun early?
Wine Tasting. Have each guest bring a bottle of their favorite wine if budget is tight. You can even provide the wine and host a swap. Just make sure to have plenty of wine glasses. You should have at least one red and one white for each guest. If you want to go the extra mile, hire a sommelier to guide the tasting.
Bride & Groom Photo Game. We know we said no corny games, but your guests will love this one. Plus this is one guests can casually play throughout the evening. Set up a photo wall with numbered pictures of the bride and groom-to-be at various ages and pass out a guest guessing sheet. Have guests write down the age they think the bride or groom is in the photo. The guest with the most correct guesses wins.
